Project Overview
Etcetra is an IoT-based e-waste collection system that aims to address the growing challenge of electronic waste management. Leveraging insights from primary and secondary research, the project proposes smart e-waste bins integrated with a mobile application. Users can identify items for disposal, generate QR codes for bin access, and receive monetary remuneration post-disposal.
Vision
The project aspires to align with SDG 12, ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns by connecting consumers, recyclers, and formal e-waste processing channels, the solution targets reducing environmental damage caused by informal e-waste handling practices while fostering a culture of responsible recycling.
User Challenges & Problems
Consumers often store obsolete electronics due to emotional attachment, lack of awareness, or absence of convenient disposal options. Many prefer selling to informal channels, which typically lack environmental safeguards. On the other hand, recyclers face challenges like high operational costs and limited access to consistent e-waste sources. These issues highlight the urgent need for a structured, user-centric system that simplifies e-waste disposal and connects all stakeholders effectively.
